Wisconsin Pork Association offers rebates for PRRS, PEDv testing

The rebates will be offered in two tiers as long as funds are available. Tier 1 is a US$25 rebate to pork producers to offset the cost of ELISA testing, and Tier 2 is a US$50 rebate to offset PCR testing costs.

The Wisconsin Pork Association (WPA) is offering rebates to producers testing for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv).

The rebates will be offered in two tiers as long as funds are available. Tier 1 is a US$25 rebate to pork producers to offset the cost of ELISA testing, and Tier 2 is a US$50 rebate to offset PCR testing costs.

If a test shows a positive PRRS result, producers should ask their veterinarian to request sequencing be done and WPA will cover the additional costs associated. Sequencing can be done within 30 days of testing. Submit sequence results and invoice with your test results when applying for the rebate.

Wisconsin’s Swine Health rule, which took effect in March 2018, requires farms with pigs to test for PRRS and PEDv when moving intrastate or interstate. Testing is not required for pigs moving directly to harvest.

Requirements

Producers must complete and submit rebate form and supporting documents by December 1. Producers must submit the following items to WPA’s office by December 1:
