New ASF cases in pigs confirmed in northeastern India, Europe

More herds of domestic swine have tested positive for the African swine fever (ASF) virus in India’s Nagaland and in four central European states. In Finland, a recent case in a wild boar has been detected well outside the designated infected area, while the virus appears to have returned to Rome, Italy.

Latest reports from the northeast Indian state of Nagaland record the presence of the African swine fever (ASF) virus detected in the Kohima district.

Virus-positive cases have been confirmed in three villages, according to Northeast Today. District authorities have specified a 1-kilometer infected zone and a 10-kilometer surveillance zone around the outbreaks, and imposed restrictions on the movement of live pigs and pork products within, into or out of the designated zones.
