PepsiCo and Cargill announced a strategic collaboration to promote regenerative agriculture practices across 240,000 acres of Iowa farmland from 2025 through 2030.

The partnership will focus on the companies' shared corn supply chain in Iowa, where Cargill sources ingredients for PepsiCo products. Iowa is the nation's largest corn producer, contributing more than 15% of the U.S. supply in 2024.

Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI), a nonprofit organization, will lead the implementation, providing farmers with tailored advice on sustainable farming techniques.

"By partnering across the supply chain – and working with farmers to understand what's best for their farms – we can accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices," said Jim Andrew, PepsiCo Chief Sustainability Officer.

The initiative supports both companies' goals to advance regenerative agriculture on 10 million acres by 2030.

Participating farmers will receive agronomic guidance, incentive payments, and technical resources to support their transition to regenerative practices. These methods aim to improve soil health, increase climate resilience, and enhance long-term farm productivity.

Pilar Cruz, Chief Sustainability Officer at Cargill, emphasized the practical focus of the partnership. "This collaboration offers a model for how we can drive meaningful impact at scale," Cruz said.

The program builds on previous collaborations among PepsiCo, Cargill, and PFI, expanding efforts to transform agricultural practices for the benefit of farmers, communities, and the environment.
