Further ASF cases confirmed in pigs, wild boar in Asia, Europe

African swine fever (ASF) virus has been detected for the first time in new areas of Indonesia, Italy and South Korea.

In Asia over the past week, African swine fever (ASF) appears to have spread to affect domestic swine in new areas of Indonesia and the Philippines.

First cases of 2024 have occurred in the Indonesian region of Papua, according to the nation’s animal health information system. There appear to have been a total of seven pigs involved at two locations in this region, as well as a further small outbreak in the country’s worst affected region so far this year, which is East Nusa Tenggara.
