ASF outbreaks hit Serbian pork market

Over recent months, Serbia has been experiencing the dramatic spread of the African swine fever (ASF) virus in domestic pigs, causing pork prices to rise sharply.

In the past week alone, Serbia’s veterinary agency has officially logged a further 375 confirmed African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks in domestic swine.

According to official notifications to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), close to 10,400 pigs were directly impacted through mortality and/or culling to prevent the further spread of infection.
