African swine fever returns to affect pigs in Germany, Poland

After a prolonged hiatus, one herd of domestic swine in each of Germany and Poland have tested positive for ASF in the past few days, while more regions in the Philippines are managing new outbreaks and pig losses have been mounting in northeastern India.

On June 4, an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was confirmed in a small pig herd in eastern Poland.

Affected was a group of 10 animals in Lublin, reports local source Dziennik Wschodni. The province and the county (Hrubieszow) appear to border Ukraine.
