Study: European feed sector highly reliant on imports of vital micronutrients

A recent analysis reveals that Europe’s feed sector depends heavily on countries outside the region to supply the vitamins and amino acids needed to keep animals healthy and productive.

Publication of its recent analysis of the supply situation in Europe for vital nutrients for livestock feeds has caused the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) to repeat its warning over the risk of possible shortages ahead.

On order to avoid this potentially disastrous situation, the organization is calling for a strong industrial strategy to support the expansion of manufacturing of these key ingredients within the European Union (EU).
