South Korea records 4th ASF farm outbreak in January

As a fourth outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) is confirmed in South Korea in 2025, disease controls have been stepped up across the country, and more farms have been infected in the Philippines.

After a two-month hiatus in South Korea's domestic pig population, African swine fever (ASF) has returned, hitting four farms in the country during the latter half of January.

The first outbreak to be confirmed in 2026 hit a large commercial premises in Gangwon province in the northeast of the country.
