ASF returns to Bhutan, spikes in Vietnam

After a seven-month hiatus, African swine fever (ASF) virus has been detected again in Bhutan, while allegations of processing infected pork have been made against a large meat processing business in Vietnam.

Swill feeding has been blamed for the recent re-emergence of African swine fever (ASF) in the Kingdom of Bhutan in south Asia.

In the first week of January, a small backyard herd tested positive for the virus after the deaths of three of the animals, according to an official notification the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
