Blood biomarkers reveal hidden nutritional imbalances in broilers

Meta-analysis by DSM-Firmenich finds commercial broilers may not be getting optimal levels of calcium and phosphorus, even when their feed is formulated based on standard nutritional guidelines.

A recent analysis by DSM-Firmenich has found that commercial broilers may not be getting optimal levels of calcium and phosphorus, even when their feed is formulated based on standard nutritional guidelines.

The report, “Physiology-Led Assessment of Calcium and Phosphorus Status in Commercial Broilers,” is based on thousands of blood biomarker samples collected from broiler flocks in 16 countries between 2019 and 2026 and analyzed using the company’s Verax tool.
