New owners are being sought for Danish-based agricultural and animal feed firm, Skiold Group.
With its base in Saeby, Denmark, Skiold Group supplies equipment and manages new projects for livestock feed production, pig farms as well as grain cleaning and seed across the world. Ten Skiold subsidiaries have been set up across Europe, CIS countries, Asia and Australia.
Founded in 1927, the company was owned and run by the Hougaard family through three generations. In 2006, co-owner, Samuel Waldorph and other members of the management team took over the daily running of the business, while Henrik Hougaard was chairman of the board of directors.
Hougaard explained the move as a family decision to pass on the management of Skiold Group to others with the vision to maintain the company’s growth trajectory into the future.
“It is my conviction that the future potential of the company is best secured under a new ownership with the skills and the financial strength to invest in and realize our ambitious growth strategy, thus taking Skiold to an even higher league,” he said.
The Group’s most likely new owner will be a Danish capital fund, according to Finans.
Skiold Group has recently signed a contract with Russia’s RBPI Group for two new feed mills in Kaliningrad and Nizhniy Novgorod to supply its new farms, each with 6,200 sows and 42,000 finishers.
In July of this year, Skiold Group took over Farmlog, a Danish-based IT company specializing in information systems for pig producers.
The Danish Food and Agriculture Council awarded Skiold Group the prize for Growth Company of the Year 2017, recognizing the firm’s consistent and healthy business growth. The award was announced at a leading conference for the agricultural sector in Odense in September.
