Purina invests $2.4 million in Iowa feed plant
A $2.4 million capital investment will boost production capacity at the Purina Animal Nutrition plant that has been making livestock feed in Mason City, Iowa, for 55 years. The upgrades will increase availability of locally produced feed to farms in north-central and northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota.

In the feed mill, pellet production is one of the most energy-consuming steps; therefore, the pursuit of any optimization is beneficial. Recent studies have shown that the addition of a liquid source of methionine may lead to a savings of up to 7 percent compared with the powder form when pelletizing.
