Illegal antibiotic detected in poultry feed in Moldova

Contaminated feed has been blamed for the discovery of metronidazole in poultry in the eastern European state.

After the recent detection of metronidazole in poultry in the Republic of Moldova, the national food safety agency, ANSA, ordered the destruction of poultry, eggs and animal feed.

By January 9, approximately 110,000 poultry had been destroyed in order to protect public health.
