Bil-Jac Foods names Hill's Pet Nutrition veteran as chief commercial officer

Premium dog food manufacturer adds Danny Waite, a 20-year CPG and pet nutrition executiven to leadership team.

Bil-Jac Foods has appointed Danny Waite as chief commercial officer, the company announced June 4. Waite brings more than 20 years of experience in consumer packaged goods and pet nutrition to the role.

Waite joins Bil-Jac from Hill's Pet Nutrition, where he served as vice president of customer development and professional veterinary affairs for more than two decades. At Hill's, he led initiatives focused on veterinary engagement, retail partnerships, and pet wellness programs.

At Bil-Jac, Waite will oversee commercial strategy with emphasis on innovation, customer collaboration, and product development. The company, founded in 1947, manufactures premium dog food and treats through facilities in Berlin, Maryland, and Medina, Ohio.

"We're excited to have Danny join Bil-Jac as chief commercial officer," said Michael Greenwell, CEO of Bil-Jac. "Danny brings a unique combination of strategic vision, industry expertise, and a deep understanding of what drives meaningful growth in the pet category. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our retail partnerships, expand our reach, and deliver exceptional nutritional solutions to pets and their families."

Ron Coughlin, Bil-Jac's executive chairman and former Petco CEO, noted his history working with the new hire. "I have worked with Danny for many years, and we believe he is one of the best executives in the pet industry with fantastic relationships across the retail landscape," Coughlin said.

Bil-Jac operates as a portfolio company of Entrepreneurial Equity Partners. The manufacturer produces dry kibble, soft treats, wet food, frozen meals, and specialized diets using what it describes as a proprietary small-batch cooking process.

"We're confident that Danny's leadership will be a catalyst for Bil-Jac's continued growth and innovation," said e2p Vice President Blake Miller. "His seasoned expertise in the pet industry and proven success in building customer partnerships make him a valuable addition as Bil-Jac continues to expand its reach and deliver on its commitment to pet health and nutrition."

"I'm proud to join Bil-Jac and help grow a brand known for its dedication to quality and pet nutrition," Waite said. "I look forward to leveraging my experience to expand our reach, foster deeper connections with pet parents, and drive innovative strategies that elevate our presence in the market."
