Choline chloride quality begins with the carrier

Choline chloride is nutritionally important in poultry feeds, but concentration, carrier quality, storage behavior and dosing accuracy determine how much reaches the bird.

Choline chloride is available from many manufacturers, traders and premix houses. The label may look familiar across suppliers, but concentration, carrier, moisture control and analytical reliability can differ.

Choline is commonly grouped with the B-complex vitamins, although it is more accurately described as a vitamin-like essential nutrient. Poultry require it for phospholipid synthesis, lipid transport, methyl-group metabolism and formation of acetylcholine. Corn and soybean meal contribute natural choline, yet commercial diets are commonly supplemented to provide a dependable total supply.
