The carbon footprint of phytase: sustainability or just a nice story?

The use of phytase is a step toward sustainability and environmental stewardship, but it’s just one useful piece of a much larger puzzle.

Every feed additive seems to carry a sustainability badge, and phytase is no exception. By reducing the need for inorganic phosphorus supplementation, phytase lowers feed costs, spares finite phosphate rock reserves, and reduces phosphorus excretion into the environment. On paper, that’s a strong sustainability story.
