Deoxynivalenol confirmed in 4 more US states

Four more states have confirmed reports of mycotoxins in winter wheat as the harvest progress behind average, according to Neogen’s Monday Mycotoxin and Crop Report from July 15.

Four more states have confirmed reports of mycotoxins in winter wheat as the harvest progress behind average, according to Neogen’s Monday Mycotoxin and Crop Report from July 15.

Deoxynivalenol has been confirmed in wheat in Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska and Ohio. This is in addition to previously confirmed reports in North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana.

Crop progress reports

All crops continue to be well behind their five-year averages.

The winter wheat harvest is 47% complete, 14 points behind the five-year average. States the furthest behind on their wheat harvest are Indiana, Ohio, Colorado and Kansas.

Fifty-six percent of spring wheat is headed out, 17 points behind the five-year average. Seventy-eight percent of spring wheat is in good to excellent condition, while 3% is rated poor to very poor.

Barley is 55% headed out, 20 points behind the five-year average. Seventy-three percent of barley is in good to excellent condition; 5% is in poor to very poor condition.

Oats are 74% headed, 16 points behind the five-year average. Sixty-five percent of oats are in good to excellent condition; 7% is in poor to very poor condition.

Ninety-eight percent of corn has emerged, two points behind the five-year average. Eight percent of corn is silking – 14 points behind the five-year average. Fifty-seven percent of corn is in good to excellent condition, and 12% is in poor to very poor condition. Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri have the highest poor to very poor corn condition ratings.
