Rollins: USDA ready to respond ‘immediately’ to NWS threat

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said New World screwworm has been detected 25 miles from the U.S. border.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is prepared to respond “immediately” if New World screwworm (NWS) is detected in the U.S., Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said during a press conference on June 2.

The conference – the first of what Rollins said would be regular updates on the NWS situation – came “in an effort to get information out to be as transparent as possible” after misinformation was recently spread online about the proximity of NWS cases to the U.S.-Mexico border.
