Complaint seeks $10,000 per day of violation
Missouri’s attorney general is filing suit against confined animal feed operator Charles Cooper LLC for violations of the state’s Clean Water Law, according to reports.
The suit alleges that the farm used too much waste water on its fields, and that the resulting runoff contaminated a local creek. The complaint also alleges that the operation violated an earlier agreement to correct violations in exchange for a suspended imposition of $9,000 in fines.
The new suit seeks payment of the $9,000 in addition to $10,000 a day in fines for violation of the clean water laws, as well as permanent injunctions against the company until it comes into compliance.
