Philippines looks for ways to mitigate El Nino

With a particularly strong El Nino phenomenon in prospect, the nation’s agriculture ministry is investigating ways to ensure national food security.

Concerns over the impact of recent and upcoming climate changes and less reliable weather patterns are behind the exploration of alternative feed crops and animal production in the Philippines.

During a recent visit to India, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. examined some of the options, reported the official Philippine News Agency (PNA).
