Perdue AgriBusiness LLC is pleased to announce its acquisition of the U.S. business of Technology Crops International LLC (TCI), an international, agriculturally-based business specializing in the contract growing and supply chain management of specialty crops for the nutritional, oleachemical and personal care industries.
TCI was established in 2004 in North Carolina and has grown to become a recognized leader in the commercialization and supply of specialty crops and crop products, working with farmers, processors and end users to deliver safe, reliable, sustainable and assured crop-derived solutions. TCI’s principal products are derived from high erucic acid rapeseed (HEAR) and high oleic sunflower (HOSF) grown throughout the upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. TCI’s rapeseed crops are crushed for HEAR oil used by leading companies that manufacture plastics. Surfactants, specialty food ingredients and bio lubricants, both domestically and internationally.
“Technology Crops has worked collaboratively and in partnership with Perdue since 2011, and I am delighted that Perdue AgriBusiness has acquired our U.S. operations,” said Andrew Hebard, President and CEO of TCI. “This investment in TCI will become a platform for significant future growth under Perdue’s leadership, as consumer and industry place more demands on the supply chain for specialty products.”
“Acquiring the U.S. business of TCI is an important strategic move for Perdue AgriBusiness and will complement and further expand Perdue’s development in this area. We are pleased to welcome the team of TCI who bring extensive grower and end market knowledge and relationships, and who will be transitioning to Perdue,” said Dick Willey, President of Perdue AgriBusiness.
