Feed additive producer announces increased profits

Anpario, an international producer of natural feed additives for animal health, hygiene and nutrition, has announced increased profits and earnings per share for the year ended December 19, 2012. Total underlying profits before tax and exceptional items increased by 39 percent to £3.1 million on sales up 23 percent at £23.5 million.

Supply rationing will mean less poultry, eggs

Through the month of October, the average cost per 100 pounds of layer feed in the U.S. in 2012 was $15.73, according to Egg Industry Center estimates. The cost of feeding laying hens has more than doubled since 2006, when the average price was $6.92 per 100 pounds of feed. When grain prices rise to historically high levels, some buyers are tempted to lock in future supply fearing that prices will rise even higher, but this play can be very costly.
