In Asia, 46 companies produced 203.27 million metric tons (mmt) of animal feed.

1. CP Group

CP Group (Charoen Pokphand) is a large conglomerate of food-related companies. Headquartered in Thailand, CP’s international activities in poultry, pig and feed are organized in two ways: through whole or partial ownership in various of CP Group’s 200 subsidiaries; or through CP Foods (CPF) — the group’s main international feed player, with operations in 14 countries and worldwide exports. Feed comprises just over half of CP Food’s sales revenue, the bulk of it sold in Thailand, China and Vietnam. In 2017, CP Group produced 27.65 mmt of animal feed.

 

2. New Hope Group

New Hope Group’s affiliate company New Hope Liuhe is China’s largest feed manufacturer and one of China’s largest agri-husbandry enterprises. The enterprise operates across China and 20 other countries, primarily in Asia. New Hope Liuhe comprises the vast majority of New Hope Group revenues, controlling nearly 500 branch and subsidiary companies engaged in animal feed, livestock breeding and raising, meat processing and financial investments. In 2017, New Hope Group’s 200 feed mills produced 20 mmt of animal feed.

 

3. New Hope Liuhe

New Hope Liuhe, a subsidiary of New Hope Group, is a leader in feed sales volume and meat processing volume in China. The group encompasses more than 200 feed companies. In 2017, New Hope Liuhe produced 20 mmt of animal feed.

 

4. CPP China

CPF owns CPP China (CP Pokphand Co. Ltd.). CPP operations cover 28 provinces in China, with 95 percent of total sales coming from its feed activities. Chia Tai Group operates some 400 other commercial concerns across 20 countries. In 2017, CPP China produced 12.4 mmt of animal feed at its 79 feed mills.

 

5. Wen’s Food Group

Wen’s Food Group (WFG) includes more than 262 integrated companies throughout 22 provinces. Its feed operations make Wen’s the largest feed manufacturer in China’s Guangdong province. In 2017, Wen’s produced 12 mmt of animal feed at its 57 feed mills.

 

6. Muyuan Foodstuff

Publicly traded Muyuan Foodstuff has interests in feed manufacturing, pig breeding and commercial pig production, pig slaughtering and pork processing. The agribusiness enterprise now includes 88 wholly owned subsidiaries and two shareholding companies. The company’s total annual sales jumped nearly 80 percent in 2017. In 2017, the company produced 11 mmt of animal feed.

 

7. East Hope Group

East Hope Group is a large private corporation with concerns in agriculture as well as heavy and chemical industrial businesses. East Hope Group has 101 subsidiaries involved in animal feed manufacturing that are responsible for several popular brands, including East Hope, Golden Bean and Qiangda. Beyond China, East Hope Group has interests in Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia. In 2017, East Hope Group’s 96 feed mills produced 7.6 mmt of animal feed.

 

8. JA Zen-Noh

JA Zen-Noh’s feed business, ZEN-NOH Grain Corporation (ZGC), boasts the world’s largest sales volumes from a single grain elevator along the Gulf of Mexico in the United States (New Orleans). In addition to production and sales around the world, the Japanese company claims 30 percent market share of all feeds produced domestically. JA Zen-Noh is responsible for the marketing and supply business of the JA Group. It serves 1,011 farm cooperatives that are members of the Japanese National Federal of Agricultural Co-operative Associations. JA Group members include Higashi-Nihon Cooperative Feed & Mills Co., which manufactures feed at six mills and sells in 16 prefectures in the Kanto, Koshinetsu, Tokai and Hokuriku regions, and several other feed subsidiaries. In 2017, JA Zen-Noh’s 22 feed mills produced 7.2 mmt of animal feed.

 

9. Shuangbaotai Group (Twins Group)

Shuangbaotai Group (Twins Group) is an integrated agribusiness of more than 100 subsidiaries in China engaged in feed research, production, sales, technical services, pig farming, grain purchasing and storage. Twins Group is the leading supplier of swine feed in China. In 2017, Shuangbaotai Group (Twins Group) produced 6.6 mmt of animal feed.

 

10. Haid Group

Haid Group (Guangdong Haid Group Co. Ltd.) is mainly engaged in feed production and sales, with almost 60 feed producers in China. The company produces aquatic feed, poultry feed and pig feed, among others. The company is also developing animal health products, large-scale breeding operations and seed production. In 2017, Haid Group produced 6.3 mmt of animal feed.
