South Africa corn futures reach three-week high

South Africa corn futures have reached their highest level in more than three weeks as the continued lack of rain raises concern about the harvest. White corn for delivery in July, the most active contract, rose 1.1 percent to 2,057 rand (US$232) per metric ton, the highest since January 29, by the close on February 19 on the South African Futures Exchange in Johannesburg.

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture has developed a "Corn Advisor" app that turns a smartphone or tablet into an anytime, any place corn expert,according to developers. Corn Advisor consists of six different interactive features that give producers quick access to production information.

2013 international rendering symposium to focus on cutting feed costs

The international rendering symposium is returning to the 2013 International Production & Processing Expo, focusing on using rendered product to combat high feed costs. The two-day program, sponsored by the National Renderers Association and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, is $150 to all registered Expo attendees.

Decision on planting genetically modified corn expected in Costa Rica

Costa Rica's National Biosafety Committee, an analysis group comprised of the Ministry of Environment and Energy as well as the National Academy of Sciences representative, may soon decide whether or not to allow plantinggenetically modified corn in that country. In December 2012, members of the National Biosafety Committee asked for a delay in the ruling of whether or not to allow the planting of genetically modified corn, saying they were waiting on technical information.

ForFarmers prepares for more expansion in the feed industry

If one were following Feed International’s “Top Feed Companies” article over the last few years, they would be hard-pressed not to notice that of the 60+ companies tracked, one is moving quickly up the list – ForFarmers. Ranked at #31 in size by million metric tons of complete feeds in 2010, the feed producer jumped to number 12 in the rankings for 2012, and appears to be ready to move up the list again, possibly even breaking into the top five companies globally by 2016.
