On my flight back from Eurotier last week, I tried to think of the three most striking trends regarding animal nutrition that most impressed me. Among the many concepts discussed or presented, three key trends emerged: sustainability, alternative proteins and precision feeding. These trends reflect the industry’s commitment to balancing productivity, profitability and environmental stewardship in an ever-changing world.
Sustainability was a major theme, with a focus on reducing the environmental footprint of feed production. Life cycle assessments are becoming standard practice, helping quantify emissions and identify areas for improvement. Efforts to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus excretion through targeted formulations are front and center, addressing regulatory pressures and consumer demands for eco-friendly livestock products.
