With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the construction of the first extruded fish feed plant in Kazakhstan has begun. The capacity of the project, which is of strategic importance for the aquaculture industry, is 25,000 tons per year. This project is an important step toward the sustainable development of fisheries, reducing dependence on imports and increasing the potential of domestic production.
Commercial fish production in Kazakhstan is steadily growing. According to the results of 2025, approximately 23,000 tons of fish will be grown, of which approximately 4,000 tons are trout. And in 2026, it is planned to increase the production volume to 64,700 tons. An increase in the number of fish feed plants, such as Poseidon LLP, will significantly increase the demand for high-quality special feed.
The annual need of fish farms in the country is about 72,000 tons. Although the main part of it is provided by domestic production, dependence on imports for high-protein feeds still remains. High-tech feeds, especially for commercially important fish species such as trout and sturgeon, are not produced in the country. In this context, the new plant is of particular importance and will make a significant contribution to providing aquaculture enterprises with quality products.
This project is a vivid example of effective partnership between the state and business. This initiative will increase the competitiveness of the domestic aquaculture industry, contribute to strengthening food security and create new jobs in the region.
