GlobalVetLINK, Micro Technologies team up on software

GlobalVetLINK (GVL) and Micro Technologies, a part of AmerisourceBergen, have partnered to integrate their software platforms, offering a seamless solution for livestock producers to track and manage feed-grade Veterinary Feed Directives (VFDs).

GlobalVetLINK (GVL) and Micro Technologies, a part of AmerisourceBergen, have partnered to integrate their software platforms, offering a seamless solution for livestock producers to track and manage feed-grade Veterinary Feed Directives (VFDs).

The announcement comes ahead of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s regulatory changes – set to begin on January 1 – which require producers to obtain authorization from a licensed veterinarian to use medically important antibiotics for prevention, control or treatment of a specifically identified disease in feed.

The integration enables cattle producers to better track and manage feed-grade antibiotics. Customers will have access to solutions that automatically track the inventory, prescribed dosage and number of animals, and then generate VFD requests or notify producers when a VFD is nearing its expiration date.

“We are excited to partner with GVL to provide customers with access to a management tool that enables them to easily apply for and manage their VFDs,” Micro Technologies President Mark Shaw said. “As the industry prepares for increasing VFD regulations, we continue to seek partnerships and innovative solutions that not only help producers comply with the new standards but also improve food safety and increase efficiencies.”

A leading provider of animal management systems and solutions, Micro Technologies pioneered the first individual animal identification and food safety assurance tracking system. The company is the world’s largest real-time computerized beef feeding management systems manufacturer, with hundreds of systems installed across North America.

GVL’s web-based FeedLINK electronic VFD system powered by GVL SmartEngine Technology provides end-to-end management of VFDs by streamlining fulfillment and tracking, and helps ensure accuracy of approved labels and compliance with data retention requirements.

“We’re excited to offer another solution, in partnership with Micro Technologies, that assists cattle producers with efficiency and traceability,” said Cliff Smith, GVL CEO. “GlobalVetLINK continues to work with industry partners to offer a unique, total-systems approach to herd health management and food safety protocols.”
