Application for FDA approval of hemp ruminant feed expected this year

The Hemp Feed Coalition has launched a research webinar series to promote the ingredient and raise funds for future ingredient applications.

Cows could soon get a taste of hemp-based feed ingredients — outside the research lab.

An application to approve hemp seed meal as a feed ingredient for large and small ruminants is nearing completion and should be submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the end of this year, according to Andrew Bish, president of the Hemp Feed Coalition, which is assembling the application. Early feedback on the application has been positive, and the coalition expects FDA approval within 18 to 24 months of submission.
