Wednesday's deal to reopen the U.S. government includes new language that bans the sale of many hemp-based products, but should not affect the sale of hemp animal feed, according to the Hemp Feed Coalition.

Wednesday's version of the 2026 Continuing Appropriations Act, which President Donald Trump signed into law on November 12, includes new definitions for hemp that limit the amount of THC and other cannabinoids that may be present in products for sale in the U.S.
