China’s amended Management Regulations on Feed and Feed Additives were released November 15 and will be implemented beginning May 1, 2012.

The amendments include a series of bans against behaviors with the potential to cause human harm, such as raising animals with the use of Ministry of Agriculture-banned and other materials. Some of these materials include animal-derived materials (milk and milk products not included) added into feed for ruminants, and feed and feed additives without labels, quality standards or qualification certificates.

The regulations outline a series of punishments imposed for illegal operations, ranging from fines to revocation of business licenses.
