US$3.8 million upgrade allows for 40% faster unloading

Perdue Farms has invested US$3.8 million to upgrade its rail grain unloading capabilities at its feed mill in Forsyth, Georgia.

The company said the enclosed system upgrade replaces an aging system that was installed in 1994 and transfers grain from rail cars into silos 40% faster.

According to a report, the facility receives a trainload of grain about every 10 days.

The Joint Industry Safety and Health Council has recognized the Forsyth facility several times for consistently implementing innovative and effective workplace safety health processes and systems.

Perdue Farms is one of the largest poultry producers in the U.S., producing 12 million broilers per week. It operates 12 feed mills, as well as associated businesses in feed commodity trading and processing.
