ABN begins first stage of building new animal nutrition complex

British manufacturer of pig and poultry feed ABN has announced that the first stage of its new animal nutrition complex is in progress.

British manufacturer of pig and poultry feed ABN has announced that the first stage of its new animal nutrition complex is in progress.

The monogastric business of AB Agri obtained planning permission to build a new compound feed manufacturing facility in the east of the U.K. in 2023.

ABN operates 10 manufacturing sites across the country and provides a large share of the compound feed supply into the poultry, pig and layer industries.

“It is the ambition of ABN to support the changing needs of our customers and ensure the security of the broader pig and poultry supply chain,” said Dino Kiriakopoulos, managing director of AB Agri Mono UK & IE.

The animal feed industry is facing change, with producers and growers looking for nutrition that will get the best out of livestock, while meeting the challenges of feeding a growing global population.

As part of its approach to help build a responsible future, ABN is committed to invest behind the growth of the animal feed sector in the U.K., and to confirm its long-term position to be part of supplying this growth.

“Our journey is just beginning,” Kiriakopoulos said. “The intricate process of building a pioneering new animal nutrition complex is a long-term project. I am delighted to announce that Access Stage 1 is now in progress.

“At every stage of the process, we will be mindful of minimizing the impact on the local community and working with our partners to ensure that we have an estate capable of meeting the future requirements of our industry.”

ABN believes in a net-zero agricultural industry, with precision feeding and farm efficiencies the driving forces behind the future success of a responsible, productive and sustainable British pig and poultry sector. This new development represents an important part of supporting that ambition.

“We are excited to announce that our journey has now begun with this crucial long-term project, and we will be updating industry as we make progress with this important investment for the sector,” Kiriakopoulos said.
