Construction set to begin immediately on pelleting feed mill, storage facility

Iowa-based NEW Cooperative Inc. plans to build a new grain facility and pelleting feed mill at its location in Cooper, Iowa, with construction set to begin immediately.

The new feed mill will have a total production capacity of 500,000 tons of pelleted feed, and total grain storage capacity at this location will be 3 million bushels.

The feed mill and grain facility will be built next to the Cooper Agronomy location on Highway 4. The Cooper location was chosen as the site for the new grain facility and feed mill due great customer support along with the access to utilities, availability of land, and the existing agronomy assets at the facility.

“The project makes sense in this area, as it will create a new market for our members’ grain, as well as provide a way to better serve area livestock producers,” said Mark Walter, NEW Cooperative grain manager.

NEW Cooperative expects the grain facility to be ready to receive grain in fall 2021 with the feed mill to be completed shortly thereafter.

The grain facility and feed mill are expected to add up to 16 new employees.

NEW Cooperative Inc. is a farmer-owned grain, agronomy, energy and feed cooperative with 39 locations throughout the western and northwest region of Iowa. NEW Cooperative operates six feed mills and offers fertilizer and seed resources through a professional staff and quality facilities.
