Payán Hermanos and the UVESA Group (Grupo UVESA) signed an agreement for the acquisition earlier this month.

For UVESA, the move is significant, giving it the opportunity to expand its presence in Spain, and to expand its share of the domestic poultry market. Additionally, it sees potential to create value through Payán’s integration into the operational, commercial, and management processes of UVESA Group.

Last but not least, UVESA sees the acquisition as a route to contribute more to local communities, to the national economy, and to food security in Spain.

“The acquisition represents a natural next step for UVESA following its integration into the MHP Group, as MHP continues to focus on strengthening the companies within the Group and supporting their long-term development,” said UVESA president, Antonio Sánchez. “Payán is a company with extensive experience and recognized expertise in the poultry sector. Its integration into UVESA will strengthen our operations, and create new opportunities for sustainable development.”

Based in Granada in southern Spain, Payán Group started in poultry production in 1953.

According to the firm’s website, it continues to strive to create a modern and sustainable poultry industry with responsibility in all processes — from poultry farmer to consumer — for the health and wellbeing of society.

Payán Hermanos sells its products directly to consumers, including from its own store in Granada.
