Dries Ferreira resigns as Astral Foods CFO

He has been with the South African poultry and feed company since 2023.

Johan Andries Ignatius “Dries” Ferreira has tendered his resignation as executive director and chief financial officer (CFO) of Astral Foods, effective January 31, 2026.

According to a securities filing that can be found on the company’s website, Ferreira has “accepted an opportunity with a company in the industrial sector.”

Ferreira has held the CFO position since February 2, 2023. Prior to joining Astral Foods, his work experience included stints as CFO for Getronics and Newpark REIT.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Dries for his valuable contributions and dedicated service to the group. His leadership and financial stewardship have been instrumental in driving our strategic objectives and strengthening our financial position. On behalf of the board and the entire group, we wish him every success in his new role and future endeavors,” Astral Foods Board Chairman T. Eloff said.

According to Eloff, the company will begin a formal process to identify and appoint a suitable successor.

Astral Foods, according to information from the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, is the largest poultry producer in South Africa, having produced 280.8 million broilers during the past year. Globally, Astral Foods ranks as the 39th largest poultry producer.

The company is also the world’s 110th largest feed producer, having produced 1.3 million metric tons during the past year. It’s feed operations serve the poultry, pig, ruminant, aquaculture and pet food industries, according to the Feed Strategy Top Companies Database.
