According to the latest estimate made by Ministry of Agriculture, the Brazilian 2010/2011 harvest will set a new record at 162.9 million tons, a 9.2% rise compared to the previous year’s 149.2 million tons.
The outstanding performance can be mostly attributed to the excellent climatic conditions over the majority of the production areas. The cropland for the period, estimated in 49.9 million hectares, is 5.3%, or 2.5 million hectares more than in the previous harvest.
