Alltech international symposium to focus on growth promotion

Global animal nutrition and health company Alltech will gather representatives of leading international poultry and swine producers at GLIMPSE 2020, the 29th annual Alltech International Symposium in Lexington, Ky., May 19–22, to share their experiences of more than 30 years of antibiotic growth promoter-free animal production. “The last 20 years have clearly shown us that antimicrobial resistance is a reality, and that even if much of this relates to human decisions, our industry is under the microscope,” said Aidan Connolly, Alltech vice president and professor at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.

“Many leading international poultry and swine producers have long resolved this challenge, however, by successfully implementing antibiotic-free (AGP) programs. Delegates to the Alltech symposium will have a unique opportunity to learn from these practitioners about their experiences in three decades of AGP-free production.”

New this year, the symposium will offer breakout session tracks to attendees instead of the traditional species or subject breakouts. Breakout session tracks will offer attendees a more holistic experience in which they take part in discussions ranging from algae and agriculture’s carbon footprint to nutrition and marketing.

Discussion topics in the Future of Growth Promotion breakout session will include:

  • The GI tract: Learn about the world’s greatest eco-system. Within your body, within the animal, the importance of smart nutrients within the intestine.
  • What will be the new growth promoters? What will we use, nearly half a century since the Swann Report on the abuse of antibiotics?
  • Skeptical of wonder drugs to avoid antibiotics?
  • Antibiotic-free programs that really work.

Registration for Alltech’s 29th Annual International Symposium is open now and available for an early discount price of $599 until April 25 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Standard registration after April 25 will be $850. Two paid registrations from a single company or organization will receive a third registration free of charge. Delegates who are members of ARPAS and AAVSB can also earn CEUs.
