FDA: Antibiotic sales for livestock fell 2% in 2023

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is looking to collect use data to establish long-term goals for minimizing antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance.

Sales of antibiotics intended for use in food-producing animals continue to drop in response to increasingly stringent rules limiting their use, according to new data from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
