Phytase has become one of the most widely used enzymes in modern poultry and swine nutrition. It promises cost savings, improved performance and reduced environmental impact. Yet, for all its importance, phytase has also been the subject of debate and controversy since the day it entered the market. Perhaps that is why I have always approached it with quiet caution. Rather than making sweeping claims, I prefer to let the data speak, to test its use in practice, and to draw conclusions only where evidence supports them.
