Search turns to alternative fish feed ingredients in Uganda

A new project has been launched investigating poultry waste products as alternative feed ingredients to support growth of aquaculture in the East African state.

Further development of fish farming in Uganda is being held back by a heavy reliance on imported fish feeds.

This is according to the head of fisheries science at Makerere University, and reported by local publication, Monitor. Currently, the country only produces around one-fifth of the feeds used by the fish farming sub-sector.
