The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) will require dairy cow operations to test for H5N1, the Commissioner of Agriculture said in an order issued July 22.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) will require dairy cow operations to test for H5N1, the Commissioner of Agriculture said in an order issued July 22.

Bulk-tank testing will be mandatory for all commercial cow dairies licensed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The move is an effort to curb further spread of the H5N1 virus and implement additional control measures to protect the dairy and poultry industries and public health, CDA said.
