House Agriculture Committee advances 2026 farm bill

National Grain and Feed Association applauds bipartisan action, urges quick floor consideration to provide certainty for agriculture sector.

United States Congress

The National Grain and Feed Association today applauded the House Agriculture Committee for advancing the farm bill following committee markup, calling the action an important step toward providing long-overdue certainty for U.S. agriculture.

NGFA commended Chairman Glenn "GT" Thompson (R-Pa.) and members of the committee for moving the legislation forward and urged the House to bring the bill to the floor as soon as possible.

"Advancing the farm bill out of committee is a critical step toward delivering the certainty farmers, grain handlers and the broader agricultural supply chain urgently need," said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. "Congress should build on this bipartisan momentum and move quickly to consider the legislation on the House floor."

NGFA is particularly supportive of maintaining the current Conservation Reserve Program cap and the increased funding for the Market Access Program and other important trade programs, which play a key role in strengthening export opportunities and supporting the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture.

The House Committee on Agriculture passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act by a vote of 34 to 17.

National Corn Growers Association President Jed Bower said the bill builds upon the One Big Beautiful Bill Act's investments in agriculture and addresses additional programs and policies important to corn growers, including provisions in the credit, conservation, rural development, research and energy titles.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall applauded the bipartisan passage, noting that farmers face headwinds not seen in a generation. Agriculture has endured a pandemic, runaway inflation, rising interest rates and historic supply chain and market disruptions since Congress last updated the farm bill in 2018.
