Spanish company is the first in continental Europe to obtain Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification
Spanish aquaculture feed and pet food company Dibaq Group has become the first company in continental Europe to obtain the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for one of its feed mills.
Located in Fuentepelayo, Spain, the newly BAP-certified facility manufactures aquaculture feed for a variety of seafood species — including salmon, sturgeon, trout, bream bass, barramundi, sole, turbot, seriola, eel, olive flounder, tilapia, catfish and shrimp — as well as pet food for dogs and cats in separate facilities.
Dibaq has been involved in the aquaculture and fish nutrition business since 1986 and is a market leader thanks for its commitment for quality, research and innovation. With a total manufacturing capacity of 120,000 metric tons per year, Dibaq sells its high quality products in more than 40 countries on four continents. Dibaq is family owned, run by second- and third-generation members of the same family. It was founded in the 1950s in the town of Fuentepelayo, in the heart of the province of Segovia, by Jose Luis Tejedor and Ana Lázaro.

Best Aquaculture Practices is a third-party certification program developed by the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA), an international, nonprofit trade association headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, dedicated to advancing environmentally and socially responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy and third-party assurances. Through the development of its Best Aquaculture Practices and Best Seafood Practices certification standards, GSA has become the leading standards-setting organization for seafood.
There are almost 150 BAP-certified feed mills in 25 countries worldwide.
