Trouw Nutrition opened a new animal feed production facility in Jadcherla, India, on December 11.

The new facility will produce minerals, vitamin premixes, mineral blends and feed safety solutions for customers in South Asia for poultry, dairy, aqua and pets.

Trouw Nutrition has ramped up its operations in the South Asian and Indian market in the past three years, hence, the state-of-the-art production facility in Jadcherla, Hyderabad,” the company said in a press release.

The company’s Nutrace program, a food safety and quality initiative of its parent company Nutreco, ensures end-to-end quality and traceability, and emphasis on feed-to-food safety. The entire manufacturing process is automated from raw material handling to bagging at the plant so the final product is completely untouched by human hands.

The new plant will have an annual capacity of 20,000 metric tons and includes a 45-meter tower to ensure uniform mixing as well as cold storage for vitamins and heat-sensitive ingredients. The facility also provides recycling of liquid waste for the environment safety and rainwater harvesting for minimal impact on environment. Full capacity is expected to be reached by 2025.

“As an innovation-driven organization, we bring enormous operational efficiencies with lesser turnaround time and better customization to meet customer needs,” said Saurabh Shekhar, general manager – South Asia, Nutreco. “Telangana is centrally located and one of the most investor-friendly states. It is also a major belt for poultry and aqua with logistical access to good ports.”

“Asia and India are key to achieving our mission of ‘Feeding the Future,’” said Jurrien Zandbergen, managing director, Nutreco Asia. “We already have plants in Japan, China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar to strengthen our presence in Asia.”

According to Feed Strategy’s Top Feed Companies database, Nutreco produced 9 million metric tons of feed at its 100 feed mills globally in 2019.
