Outlook for 2014-15 grain production up sharply
The June Grain Market Report from the International Grains Council says the outlook for grain production in 2014-15 has increased sharply, by 12 million tons. This is due to favorable weather, which led to better prospects for wheat and corn.

AFIA director named to Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman on June 26 appointed Gina Tumbarello, American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) director of international policy and trade, to the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseed and Planting. Tumbarello was one of 19 new appointees to six agricultural trade advisory committees.

Distiller’s dried grains with solubles exports to China threatened
Exporters recently were rocked by reports that China may suspend the issuance of new import permits for U.S. distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS), and subject currently permitted imports to more stringent testing for the presence of unapproved biotech events.While no official statement from the government in China has been forthcoming, the resulting uncertainty is roiling trade in what is currently the largest U.S. DDGS export market.

WWF: Europe needs to do more to promote responsible soy production
European companies that use soy for animal feed or animal products are not doing enough to encourage responsible growers to reduce the negative effects of soy production, an analysis from WWF finds.The WWF Soy Report Card 2014 also found national initiatives on responsible soy encourage better performance from companies, although there is more room for improvement.
