Animal Ag Alliance holding summit

The 2025 Stakeholders Summit will feature three speakers focusing on navigating animal agriculture through the legal process.

The evolving policy and legal landscapes continue to present significant challenges for animal agriculture, as animal rights groups target how and whether animals can be raised and processed for food. To address these issues, three experts with unique perspectives will participate in a panel discussion at the Animal Agriculture Alliance’s 2025 Stakeholders Summit, scheduled for April 30-May 2 in Arlington, Va. The 2025 Summit theme is “Food for Thought: Dishing on Sustainability,” and discounted registration is available through April 4. Register here.

This panel will provide attendees with valuable insights on how animal agriculture can navigate the growing influence of activism within the legal and legislative processes. The session will focus on how farmers, ranchers, industry leaders and company executives can position themselves for continued success. Dayna Ghirardelli, from the Sonoma County Farm Bureau, will share her experience in helping to counter a ballot measure aimed at ending large-scale farming in the county. Ryann Glenn, partner at Husch Blackwell, will discuss strategies for ensuring sustainability narratives hold up under legal scrutiny and avoid “greenwashing” claims. Mike Bober, president of the Pet Advocacy Network, will explore challenges and opportunities for animal agriculture under the new administration, offering strategies for navigating change and uncertainty. Attendees will leave the session better prepared to address ongoing challenges and ensure a sustainable future for animal agriculture.

“Animal rights and activist groups are increasingly using legislation and litigation to impact animal agriculture, often driving up costs for farmers and ranchers while also making animal-based foods more expensive for consumers,” said Abby Kornegay, director of Issues and Engagement at the Alliance. “As these efforts intensify, it’s critical for the food and farming communities to take proactive steps to minimize their vulnerabilities. This session will equip attendees with the tools and insights needed to successfully navigate these challenges.”
