USPOULTRY is currently accepting research pre-proposals for its 2025 Fall Research Competition. Research proposals are evaluated for funding twice a year, and the pre-proposals can be submitted by colleges, universities and research facilities until May 1.
Pre-proposals are one-page synopses that must be submitted via a new online form. These will be reviewed by the Foundation Research Advisory Committee, which will invite full proposals that align with the current research priorities.
The research priorities cover various areas of the poultry industry, including:
- Animal welfare
- Breeder management (for both turkeys and broilers)
- Meat bird management
- Commercial egg production
- Diseases
- Environmental management
- Food safety
- Hatchery management
- Nutrition
- Processing
- Employee safety and health
The complete list of priorities, instructions and deadlines for submitting pre-proposals can be found on the USPOULTRY website. Additionally, proposals addressing new or unforeseen issues outside the priority list are welcome but will be evaluated based on the justification of the research need.
Funding decisions will be made in late September, with USPOULTRY investing more than $1 million annually into research, totaling over $37 million in grants since the program’s inception.
