At the seminar "Accelerate Thailand: Driving Thailand to Connect the World," held in celebration of TNN Channel 16’s 17th anniversary at True Digital Park, Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO of CP Foods, shared his insights on Thailand’s potential to become a global agriculture and food powerhouse. He highlighted the company’s journey, starting from a small seed-selling business to its current position as a global food leader, operating in 17 countries and exporting to 50 nations, reaching approximately 4 billion consumers.
Prasit emphasized that CP Foods’ success is built on a business model focused on quality, food security, and consumer trust. The company’s vision is to be the "Kitchen of the World," offering innovative, health-focused products that promote well-being. Notable examples include CP Foods' chicken products exported globally, shrimp dumplings recognized by Costco in the UK, and health-conscious innovations such as Cheeva pork, rich in Omega-3, and Benja chicken, designed to deliver more nutritional value.
Environmental sustainability is at the heart of CP Foods' strategy. The company is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and it was the first global food producer to have its greenhouse gas reduction targets approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Prasit highlighted CP Foods’ collaboration with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through initiatives like the "SMEx Low-Cost, Earth-Friendly" project and "CPF x BBL", which provide financial support and resources to suppliers. These efforts align with the company’s "Partner to Grow" philosophy, promoting sustainable growth throughout its value chain.
Prasit also spoke about Thailand’s potential as a global food hub, driven by its globally renowned cuisine. He encouraged collaboration between the government and private sector to establish food standards and branding that would enhance the global recognition of Thai food products. He noted that such efforts would require significant investment but would pay off in the long term.
In addition to sustainability and food quality, Prasit emphasized the importance of digital literacy and technological innovation within CP Foods. The company has embraced AI and engineering to improve operations, and he called on the government to support biotechnology and innovation through incentives and mentorship programs, ensuring that Thailand’s food industry can thrive on the global stage.
Prasit’s vision reflects CP Foods’ ambition to continue driving Thailand’s agriculture and food business forward, fostering collaboration and innovation to connect with the world and create a sustainable future.
