COVID-19, ASF caused the cancellation of the event in 2020 and 2019

The World Pork Expo is set to return to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in June for the first time since 2018.

Professionals in the pork industry can expect three days of networking, education and innovation from June 9-11 at the fairgrounds in Des Moines.

“We’re more than thrilled to be hosting World Pork Expo this year,” said National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) President Jen Sorenson, communications director for Iowa Select Farms in West Des Moines, Iowa. “We look forward to connecting with our fellow producers, business partners and others who contribute to our nation’s essential pork production system.”

The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2019 was canceled out of an abundance of caution due to concerns about African swine fever (ASF).

NPPC will continue to monitor developments in COVID-19 guidelines (local, state, federal) for the World Pork Expo to ensure the health and safety of all participants. NPPC will provide guidance to exhibitors and attendees.

“A safe event is our No. 1 priority,” said Sorenson. “We will implement appropriate precautionary measures to ensure a great experience for all World Pork Expo participants.”

Thousands of U.S. and global pork producers, industry professionals and industry experts attend each year. The world’s largest pork industry-specific trade show brings together pork producers and industry professionals from around the world.

Registration information will soon be available online for those who plan to attend the 2021 World Pork Expo, and the event’s website will be updated with the latest COVID-19 protocols as the event date approaches.
