Supply issue caused force majeure more than 2 weeks ago

Evonik has resumed production of methionine at its two facilities in Antwerp, Belgium.

The company announced a force majeure on November 12 after an issue with the supply of hydrocyanic acid (HCN) caused the temporary shutdown of production.

“We are pleased that we could solve the issue and resume MetAMINO production,” said Emmanuel Auer, head of the animal nutrition business line at Evonik. “We would like to thank our customers for the patience and support shown whilst we resolved the situation.”

At the time of the force majeure announcement, Evonik said it would try to meet customer demand with stock materials and that it did not expect any impact on earnings.
